Job Summary

The Cambridge Times is seeking a skilled and energetic reporter to join our newsroom team. As a reporter, you will be responsible for generating fresh and interesting local news and feature stories on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the Editor to develop and publish regular and scheduled community content to serve multi-strategy readership: newsletters, morning updates, and digital news platform.
  • Source and publish high-quality, trustworthy journalism using excellent reporting and researching skills, including data analysis.
  • Understand the value of information, large and small, and the connection between what is being reported on and our readers.
  • Work in a remote office environment, updating news and information frequently, and maintaining a sense of urgency.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience working in a newsroom environment.
  • Strong interviewing, social media, and online journalism skills.
  • Proven news judgment and a strong work ethic.
  • Photography and videography skills.
  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must have access to a vehicle and a valid Driver's License. This position is not fully remote.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (Canadian Press Style).
  • Effective organizational skills, ability to manage time and prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and demanding environment.
  • Team-oriented individual that can build professional relationships with team members.
