Job Overview

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer to join our Bridge team in Canada. Our team specializes in the pursuit and delivery of large-scale bridge and structural rehabilitation and design projects nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of bridge projects, from conceptualization to construction, ensuring exceptional quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead and mentor engineering teams, fostering a collaborative environment and maximizing team potential.
  • Perform complex engineering calculations, analyses, and designs, adhering to strict quality standards and industry best practices.
  • Prepare and review detailed engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and reports.
  • Provide technical expertise during construction, including review of contractor submissions and on-site support.

Project Management and Business Development

  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, proactively identifying and addressing client needs.
  • Lead successful project pursuits, developing winning proposals and assembling high-performing project teams.
  • Perform financial management and reporting to ensure project profitability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated project solutions.

Bridge Inspection and Assessment

  • Conduct thorough inspections of existing bridges, identifying deficiencies and recommending appropriate rehabilitation or replacement strategies.
  • Lead inspection teams, including coordination of specialized sub-consultants and development of detailed inspection reports.
  • Perform life cycle cost analyses to support informed decision-making.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Implement robust quality control processes to minimize errors and defects.
  • Provide technical guidance to design and drafting teams.

Requirements

  • Post-graduate degree in Structural Engineering with a focus on bridge engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 20 years of progressive bridge engineering experience encompassing inspection, analysis, load-rating, design, and construction. Seismic analysis and design experience is a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, Alberta, or British Columbia.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian bridge design codes and standards, including CSA S6 and familiarity with AT, ON MOT, and BC MOTI standards.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and analysis software, such as CSI Bridge or MIDAS Civil.
  • Strong technical report writing, problem-solving, and communication skills.
