Job SummaryThe Framing Carpenter will be responsible for preparing layouts, measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials to construct buildings. The ideal candidate will have experience in framing, finishing, and construction, and will be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to construct building frames.
- Prepare tenders and quotations for clients, including estimating costs and materials required for projects.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems to ensure structural integrity.
- Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to complete building frames.
- Scheduling and coordinating work on sites to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Surveying building locations and levels to ensure accuracy and precision.
- Instructing apprentices and supervising other workers to ensure quality workmanship.
- Estimating costs and materials required for projects, and operating CADD and other computer software systems to manage projects.
- Maintaining, repairing, and renovating residences and wooden structures in various settings, including mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
- 1-2 years of experience in framing, finishing, and construction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to lift heavy loads and work in physically demanding environments.
