Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy to transport goods and materials.
  • Load and unload goods, ensuring they are properly secured and protected during transit.
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the condition of the vehicle, inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
  • Perform brake adjustments and pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to maintain the vehicle's safety and efficiency.
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption to maintain accurate records.
  • Tarping and ensuring the safety and security of cargo during transit.

Documentation Knowledge:

  • Bill of lading
  • Driver logbook
  • Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
  • Maintenance and repair reports
  • Trip reports
