Job Description


The Roustabout, now known as the Parker Drilling Rig Technician, is a crucial member of our rig crew. This role requires excellent communication and leadership skills to ensure smooth operations on the drilling decks.


About the Role


As a Parker Drilling Rig Technician, you will be responsible for assisting with crane work, deck activities, and various aspects of drilling operations. Your duties will involve manual handling of tubulars and tools, making up or breaking out connections during tripping pipe operations.


You will also be responsible for maintaining the circulating, rotating, hoisting, and well-control systems. Additionally, you will assist in processes like rigging up/down, drilling, and completing the well.


Responsibilities



  • Assist with crane operations and deck activities
  • Manual handling of tubulars and tools
  • Making up or breaking out connections during tripping pipe operations
  • Maintain circulating, rotating, hoisting, and well-control systems
  • Participate in rigging up/down, drilling, and completing the well
  • Operate and maintain rig floor mud bucket
  • Perform general maintenance of drilling equipment
  • Inspect snub lines, jerk lines, shackles, and cable clamps
  • Inspect and check dies in slips, tongs, and elevators
  • Inspect and check all rig floor safety belts
  • Assemble well-control or pressure-control equipment
  • Perform mud pump repairs and general pump maintenance
  • Mix mud materials and chemicals
  • Loading and unloading tubular from the catwalk
  • Housekeeping and cleanliness around the rig floor working area
  • Alignment of stand pipe manifolds and bleed off lines
  • Cleaning the mast and substructure
  • Scrubbing and cleaning of rig equipment and drilling packages
  • Chipping and painting on drilling packages and equipment
  • Comply with platform emergency response plan or station bills during emergencies

Qualifications and Requirements



  • Able to identify and understand functionality of various rig equipment
  • Able to identify and understand functionality of various tubular sizes and thread types
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in basic rigger's role to ensure safe lifting operations are performed
  • Knowledgeable of mechanical systems and skilled at working with hand and power tools
  • Knowledgeable of and capable of operating Rig floor and cellar equipment
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and execution of drilling and well operations
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Sound reasoning skills, common sense, and ability to follow directions
  • Basic mathematical skills (equivalent to a high school education)
  • High School diploma required
  • Must be able to obtain appropriate offshore or onshore certifications
  • Previous experience in the oil industry preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment



  • Ability to work around moving machinery
  • Lift, carry, and move objects of up to 50 pounds
  • Operate machinery and/or power tools
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground
  • Wear personal protective equipment
  • Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, carry, push/pull, reach, and use repetitive wrist and hand movements
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and/or ramps
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, reason logically, and make sound decisions
  • Ability to comprehend, remember, and follow verbal and written directions
  • Ability to work in hazardous conditions, at heights, and in noisy environments

Salary Estimate


We estimate the salary range for this position to be between $65,000 and $85,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
