Pool Services Worker Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pool Services Worker to join our team at the City of Burnaby. As a Pool Services Worker, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our aquatic facilities, including performing routine maintenance and repairs, operating equipment, and providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on aquatic facility equipment, including pumps, valves, gauges, chlorinators, heating units, boilers, and chlorine tanks.
  • Operate and maintain filtration systems, boilers, and related pool equipment to ensure optimal water quality and facility operation.
  • Assist with janitorial and custodial duties to maintain a clean and safe environment for patrons.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patrons, answering inquiries and providing information as required.
  • Perform related work as required to ensure the efficient operation of the facility.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical training and sound related experience in the operation and maintenance of aquatic facility equipment.
  • Considerable knowledge of operating procedures of water heating, boiling, filtration, and chlorination equipment.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems, as well as occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work.
  • Ability to understand and follow routine oral and written instructions, work with minimal supervision, and deal courteously and tactfully with staff, patrons, and user groups.
  • A valid Pool Operator Level 1 Certificate is required.

Working Conditions:

  • This is an auxiliary position with hours of work dependent on operational requirements.
  • Available shifts include morning, afternoon, and graveyard shifts, 7 days a week.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive hourly rate of $28.37 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
