About the Role:

The Project Engineer at Lactalis Canada plays a pivotal role in planning, designing, and implementing various projects within the company. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, this position requires a high level of technical expertise and supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with management and stakeholders to define project scope, targets, and deliverables that align with business objectives.
  • Proactively manage project scope changes, identify potential crises, and develop contingency plans to ensure timely completion.
  • Design and prepare project plans, specifications, and cost estimates, conducting complex calculations and research to inform project decisions.
  • Ensure all work performed by or on behalf of the company complies with company project management procedures and governing practices, codes, and regulations.
  • Promote excellence in all activities, including functional groups, to support safe operation, optimal quality, improved reliability, productivity, waste reduction, and cost improvement.
  • Maintain awareness of new technologies that can improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance workplace safety and product quality.
  • Prepare and evaluate contracts and agreements.
  • Conduct specialized studies involving the selection and use of materials and equipment.
  • Manage external human resources, including vendors and contractors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering)
  • Three years of experience
  • Understanding of processes such as CIP systems, pasteurization systems, sterilizers, and packaging equipment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Financial and budgetary skills
  • Understanding of instrumentation, PLC, and Scada controls
  • Good communication, listening, and presentation skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing cultures and environments
  • Strong team facilitation and leadership skills with a commitment to team development
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong decision-making skills to identify and solve problems in a timely and effective manner
  • Proficiency with standard office computer technology, including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), and business systems such as SAP
