About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Lactalis Canada. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing various projects within the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define project scope, targets, and deliverables in collaboration with management and stakeholders.
  • Proactively manage changes within the project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Design and prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates; research project design requirements, perform complex calculations, and prepare estimates of time and material costs.
  • Ensure all work performed by or on behalf of the company complies with company project management procedures and with all governing practices, codes, and regulations.
  • Promote excellence in all activities, including the functional groups, to support safe operation, optimal quality, improved reliability, and productivity, waste reduction, and cost improvement.
  • Maintain awareness of new technologies as they relate to efficiency improvements, cost reductions, and workplace safety and product quality enhancements.
  • Prepare and evaluate contracts and agreements.
  • Conduct specialized studies involving the selection and use of materials and equipment.
  • Manage external human resources, such as vendors and contractors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering).
  • Three years of experience.
  • Understanding of processes such as CIP systems, pasteurization systems, sterilizers, and packaging equipment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Financial and budgetary skills.
  • Understanding of instrumentation, PLC, and Scada controls.
  • Good communication, listening, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing cultures and environments.
  • Strong team facilitation and leadership skills with a commitment to team development.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills to identify and solve problems in a timely and effective manner.
  • Proficient with standard office computer technology, such as Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), as well as business systems, such as SAP.
