Cenovus is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager to lead our Asphalt and Industrial Products marketing team. As a key member of our dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to strategic commercial marketing initiatives for a diverse range of products in both North American and global markets.
This role involves highly technical responsibilities, requiring advanced trading strategies, a strong understanding of multiple industries, and in-depth knowledge of product chemistry and applications. The ideal candidate will bring extensive skills and experience in commodity marketing, trading, logistics, and refined products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and gain executive approval for marketing strategies to optimize product pricing, marketing, and market positioning.
- Develop commodity and asset-specific trading strategies focused on enhancing refinery margins and capturing extrinsic value.
- Lead and mentor a team of traders, marketers, analysts, and support staff.
- Develop trading tactics and foster alignment with front, middle, and back office teams.
- Ensure that all marketing activities adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Implement book structures and risk management strategies to mitigate market and operational risks.
- A recognized leader in the marketplace with key account ownership and trade association participation.
- Leverage internal and external networks to identify and develop new business development opportunities at our downstream assets or in the market.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Commerce, Engineering, or equivalent.
- Master's degree would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of 15 years of related experience managing refined product marketing, value chain/optimization activities, trading, and/or logistics functions.
- Proven track record of leading hard-working teams with a focus on executional excellence.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and maintaining fiscally responsible budgets, strategic plans, and sales plans.
- Extensive experience in business development, relationship building, and driving sales growth.
- Extensive knowledge of the Energy sector, focusing on Oil & Gas.
- Unquestionable ethics, integrity, and business judgment.
- Effective decision-making in a fast-paced, always-changing market environment.
