Alberta Health Services is seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist II to join our team in Spirit River. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist II to work in a smaller multi-disciplinary team, supporting the newly built Pleasantview Facility. As an integral member of our team, you will work closely with nursing teams, physicians, therapy assistants, physiotherapists, social workers, and speech language pathologists to provide comprehensive care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area.
  • Provide supervision of students and team members as assigned.
  • Work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide leadership to other healthcare professionals.
  • Make day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up.
  • Advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care.
  • Ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitor care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management.
  • Participate in program development and operational planning and represent the department on committees or programs.
  • Make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
What We Offer:

Alberta Health Services offers a competitive rate of pay and a Remote Retention Allowance to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. We also offer a variety of career development opportunities and a supportive work environment.
