About the Role

The University of Toronto's Temerty Faculty of Medicine is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director, Technical Operations and Infrastructure to lead and mentor a team of IT professionals in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex technical systems and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals to design, implement, and maintain complex technical systems and services.
  • Oversee the continuous development and maintenance of a highly reliable, modern, and enterprise-grade IT infrastructure.
  • Manage technical support and AV operations to support learners, faculty, and staff.
  • Assume full responsibility for hosting and operating business-critical systems, the Faculty's physical network infrastructure, and security services and systems.
  • Develop and lead high-functioning teams, including the ability to engage and motivate staff and teams.
  • Negotiate with service providers, establish, and monitor service level agreements.

Requirements

  • University degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant field.
  • Eight years of experience in enterprise information technology operations leading teams in a university, government, healthcare setting, or comparable environment.
  • Strong understanding of modern infrastructure technologies, including data centers, networks, cloud, and security.
  • Strong understanding of network design and secure architectures.
  • Proven success with agile project management software development methodologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of emerging trends in the use of education technologies, networks, distance education initiatives, and diverse computer platforms in education.
  • Excellent financial acumen, including financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting experience.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to seize opportunities to improve technology processes while managing multiple demands concurrently in a high-pressure environment.
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.
  • Ability and inclination to keep one's technical skills up-to-date and relevant.
