Cancer Care Counsellor

BC Cancer is seeking a skilled Cancer Care Counsellor to provide psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families. As a member of the interdisciplinary cancer care team, you will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to address the emotional and practical needs associated with cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screen, assess, and counsel patients and families concerning emotional and practical needs associated with their diagnosis.
  • Provide consultation to other disciplines and work as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Develop and facilitate group programs to meet the needs of patients and families.
  • Participate in planning and development of educational activities in the Centre/Provincially, designated Community Oncology Network and/or outreach programs.
  • Provide clinical guidance to students and volunteers as required.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a social sciences discipline relevant to the job from a recognized program.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience working in an interdisciplinary setting.
  • Eligible for registration with designated professional regulatory body.
