Job Title: Counsellor, Patient and Family Counselling Cancer Care

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our team at BC Cancer, providing psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families. As a Counsellor, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to provide emotional and practical support to patients and their loved ones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Screen, assess, and counsel patients and families regarding their emotional and practical needs associated with their diagnosis.
  • Provide consultation to other disciplines and work as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Facilitate and develop group programs to meet the needs of patients and families.
  • Participate in planning and development of educational activities in the Centre/Provincially, designated Community Oncology Network, and/or outreach programs.
  • Provide clinical guidance to students and volunteers as required.
  • Participate in and promote research projects as directed.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a social sciences discipline relevant to the job from a recognized program.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience working in an interdisciplinary setting.
  • As per our Standards of Practice, demonstrated aptitude and experience in brief evidence-based therapy models.
  • Eligible for registration with designated professional regulatory body.
