Job Title: Senior Reservoir Engineer

Strathcona Resources Ltd. is a Calgary-based oil and gas production and development company seeking an experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our team in Calgary.

Responsibilities:
  1. Support the development of Strathcona's in-situ undeveloped bitumen assets.
  2. Lead activities evaluating field development strategies and reservoir management plans.
  3. Utilize analogues, analytical, and simulation techniques to generate medium and long-term production forecasts for wells, pads, and assets.
  4. Support regulatory applications or filings as needed.
  5. Ensure best practices and accurate representation of subsurface data and inputs associated with thermal reservoir modeling are followed.
  6. Responsible for developing and implementing reservoir operating strategies.
  7. Identify and support well completion strategies and designs.
  8. Support well start-up, ramp down, and late-life well strategies.
  9. Communicate effectively with key stakeholders and establish relationships with Production, Operations, Geosciences, and Development teams.
Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or a relevant field.
  2. 10 years of related industry experience directly involved with reservoir engineering aspects of thermal projects, preferably SAGD.
  3. Goal-oriented and capable of meeting aggressive deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  4. A track record of creativity and innovation in generating and implementing reservoir engineering solutions.
  5. Must have a passion and drive to take ownership of projects from start to finish.
  6. Excellent analytical, integration, and project management capabilities.
  7. Demonstrated experience in SAGD surveillance, field development planning, and forecasting.
  8. Demonstrated experience in greenfield SAGD development and start-up.
  9. In-depth familiarity with thermal reservoir simulation (CMG Suite).
  10. Experience with PVT and Solvent SAGD, and special core analysis.
  11. Familiarity with Python coding skills.
  12. Strong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  13. Must possess strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).
  14. Must be registered as a Professional Engineer, or eligible for membership with APEGA.
  15. Must be legally authorized to work full-time in Canada without restrictions.
