Job Summary:

The Anglophone South School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Language Acquisition Specialist to join our team. As an EAL Support Teacher, you will play a vital role in developing and strengthening students' English language abilities in Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized or group programs using appropriate EAL resources to support students' language development.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, Education Support Services Team, and the District EAL Team to ensure seamless support for students.
  • Conduct benchmark assessments at strategic intervals to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Participate in district-provided professional learning sessions to stay updated on best practices in EAL instruction.
  • Travel within the district may be required for professional learning and collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Knowledge of New Brunswick Curriculum Outcomes and Reading and Writing Standards.
  • Strong commitment to students' academic and social development.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function as a member of a teaching team and work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Knowledge of the stages of Second Language Acquisition and instructional strategies effective for English Language Learners.
  • Cross-cultural understanding and sensitivity, as well as the ability to work independently and solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certificate in TESL, SIOP, or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching English Language Learners.
