Job Title: Woodworking Craftsman

About the Role:

Mattress Matters is seeking an experienced Woodworking Craftsman to join our team. As a key member of our production staff, you will be responsible for preparing estimates of labour and/or material costs, reading blueprints, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate Labour Costs: Prepare accurate estimates of labour costs for various woodworking projects, ensuring that all factors are considered.
  • Read Blueprints: Carefully read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements, identifying any potential challenges or opportunities.
  • Cutting, Shaping, and Assembly: Cut, shape, assemble, and join materials as required, using a range of tools and equipment.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule and coordinate work on sites, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Supervision: Supervise other workers, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Cost Estimation: Estimate costs and materials required for each project, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

Additional Requirements:

  • Awareness Training: Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for persons with disabilities, newcomers, and refugees, youths, Veterans, Indigenous people, and members of visible minorities.
