Millwright Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Millwright to join our team at Stuart Olson. As a Millwright, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on industrial equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, and steam turbines.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on industrial equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, and steam turbines.
• Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures.
• Operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts.
• Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances.
• Align and test equipment and make any necessary adjustments.
• Perform predictive and operational procedures.
• Repair and/or replace defective parts.
• Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Maintain an inventory of replacement parts.
• Prepare layout including material selection, sequence planning and methods of work.
• Ensure work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.
• Ability to machine small parts with precision.
• Report all incidents, "near miss" incidents including damages/non-damage, injury/non-injury incidents.
• Review and participate in the preparation of safe work practices/procedures as required.
• Ability to use lathe and milling machine proficiently.

Qualifications:

• Journeyman Millwright ticket.
• Energy Safety Canada: H2S Awareness, CSO, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry Monitor, Elevated Work Platform.
• Valid driver's license.
• Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol testing.

Working Conditions:

• Working at heights.
• Working in a confined space.
• Working in and around noise and dust.
• Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions.
• Must be clean shaven.
• Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50 lbs. with assistance.
• Stand or walk for long periods of time.
• Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects.
• Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects.
