Overview

The University of Lethbridge seeks a visionary leader to oversee its Risk Management, Security Services, and Safety & Research Compliance Services. As the Executive Director, Risk and Safety Services, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors. Your expertise in risk awareness, compliance, and occupational health and safety will be invaluable in fostering a culture of resilience within the institution.

Key Responsibilities: Lead efforts in emergency management, enterprise risk management, business continuity, and behavioral intervention (employees and students). Oversee comprehensive risk and safety mitigation services and strategies across the institution. Proactively identify and manage risks to support the University's long-term stability and resilience. Provide visionary leadership to Risk & Safety Services and its constituent teams. Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment within the department and in service to the University community.

Requirements: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Risk Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration). Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in campus safety, security, risk management, or a related field. Proven track record of managing large teams and complex projects. Experience in a higher education environment is highly desirable. Hold Security & Investigations License, Certified Protection Professional, Certified Risk Manager, Certified Emergency Manager, Canadian Registered Safety Professional certifications. Possess strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. High level of integrity and professionalism. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in campus safety and security, insurance, risk management, and OH&S. Proficiency in using relevant technology and software applications. The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver's License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is also required.

Compensation: The estimated annual salary range for this position is $130,099 - $196,548.
