Anishinabek Employment & Training Services is committed to providing support and services to urban Indigenous individuals. Our mission is to help community members improve their mental health, reduce harm associated with behaviors, and avoid recidivism.

The Indigenous Peer Support Program (IPSP) Coordinator will be responsible for delivering these services. This role will work closely with an interdisciplinary team to provide networks of support and mentorship to community members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver support services to urban Indigenous individuals under community supervision orders
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to plan and implement services
  • Provide individualized support and advocacy to community members

Requirements:

  • Preferred degree in Social Services, Indigenous Studies, or related human services field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in mental health or justice services environment
  • Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history
  • Knowledge of judicial system, Criminal Code, and related federal and provincial statutes
  • Experience working with high-risk clientele experiencing concurrent issues
  • Self-motivated individual with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent case and file management skills
  • Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport
  • Group facilitation, team building, and decision-making skills
