About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Risk Control Consultant to join our Property and Casualty team. As a key member of our team, you'll work closely with internal business partners, clients, regulatory authorities, and industry professionals to identify and mitigate physical and operational hazards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective risk control strategies to help our clients manage their potential to losses and improve their overall cost of risk.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners and clients to understand their risk management needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in risk management to ensure our clients receive the highest level of service.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in Property Risk Control for large commercial/industrial/manufacturing and (commercial) liability insurance.
  • Superior knowledge of relevant Fire Protection Codes and Standards (NFPA) is expected.
  • Knowledge in completing design reviews for water-based fire protection systems, aided with experience in conducting inspections and testing.
  • Strong analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both verbally and written.
  • Attention to details, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with the Microsoft Office Package.
  • Good understanding of Factory Mutual FM Data Sheets and field service methodology is desired.
  • Able to provide a valid driver's license and a clear 5-year driver's abstract.

Education

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma focused on technical and engineering fields (Mechanical, Chemical, Fire Protection, Civil, Electrical, or other) is preferred, or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role.
  • Currently holding or working towards a related engineering designation will be an asset (i.e., P.Eng).
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development with a willingness to obtain the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Certified Risk Management (CRM) designations is preferred.
