Job Summary

This is a full-time, permanent position at Seaspan, a leading shipbuilding company. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our Program Management Office in the execution of the Polar Icebreaker project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute project plans, budgets, and schedules to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Lead and manage a team of project managers and coordinators to achieve project goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including estimating, commercial, planning, and project controls, to ensure project success.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients and strategic suppliers to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Monitor and control project costs, schedules, and resources to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Provide regular project status reports to senior management and clients.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks and opportunities to ensure project success.
  • Develop and implement project management processes and procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business.
  • 8-10 years of experience in heavy industry, such as shipbuilding, manufacturing, or construction.
  • Certified project management qualification (PMP) is an asset.
  • Experience leading people and significant budgets.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to strategize and see the bigger picture, while focusing on details.
  • Strong business sense and ability to influence others.
  • Familiarity with Government contracting and performance management of major subcontractors.
