About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tunnel & Portals Design Manager to join our team at Webuild. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for coordinating the design efforts of our team for tunnel and portal development, ensuring alignment with our construction strategy.

This is a full-time position located in our downtown Toronto office. As a Tunnel & Portals Design Manager, you will oversee the architectural, structural, and civil design phases for tunnel and portal projects, ensuring adherence to safety, functionality, and durability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the design lifecycle for multiple tunnel and portal projects, from concept through completion, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to achieve alignment on project goals and design specifications.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with local and international safety standards, including seismic, fire, and ventilation requirements.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of design plans, perform site inspections, and address any issues to ensure quality and consistency across all projects.
  • Develop and manage design budgets, ensuring that all projects are completed within allocated financial resources without compromising on quality.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in tunnel and underground structures design, including hands-on project management.
  • Previous experience working with Design Joint Ventures and Construction Joint Ventures is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing complex design processes in infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in tunnel and portal design, including knowledge of various construction methodologies.
  • Familiarity with relevant software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or specialized tunneling software.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in underground projects design and construction activities/projects in Ontario.
