Job Summary

Central Xpress is seeking a skilled Long Haul Truck Driver to join our team. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for safely operating a tractor-trailer combination and transporting goods and materials across the country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transportation and Logistics
    • Arrange travel itineraries and make reservations for cargo transportation
    • Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of goods
    • Obtain special permits and documents required for international routes
  • Vehicle Maintenance
    • Inspect and maintain the condition of the vehicle, including tires, lights, brakes, and cold storage
    • Perform brake adjustments and preventive maintenance to ensure vehicle reliability
  • Communication and Record-Keeping
    • Receive and relay information to central dispatch, ensuring timely updates on cargo status
    • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
  • Specialized Tasks
    • Transport and handle hazardous materials, adhering to strict safety protocols
    • Obtain and maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and memberships
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
    • Long-haul transportation experience, with a willingness to train
  • Certifications and Licenses
    • Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
  • Work Environment
    • 30-40 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to accommodate transportation needs
    • English language proficiency
