Vaco is a leading provider of professional staffing and consulting services. Our client is a large public company in the manufacturing industry, seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join their team.
About the OpportunityThe Financial Controller will lead and manage the Corporate Accounting Team, fostering a culture of growth and excellence. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing month-end and year-end period closing and ensuring timely completion of reporting.
- Managing and analyzing the Balance sheet and General Ledger accounts, conducting balance sheet reconciliations, and organizing routine balance sheet reviews with business partners.
- Managing the accounting of payroll transactions, coordinating timely completion of tax filings and government reports, and supporting payroll in ensuring timely filings of EHT, WSIB, and other payroll remittances.
- Managing any sales tax, income tax, or corporate audits and providing effective resolution to disputes.
- Overseeing External and Intercompany Accounts Payable processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of vendor payments.
- Being a Finance Business Partner with stakeholders across the company, preparing and approving relevant journal entries, and ensuring supporting documentation is provided in accordance with company guidelines.
- Assessing accounting operations continuously, proposing improvements, and implementing processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Responsible for Treasury functions such as Cash flow forecast, bank reconciliations, bank relationships, and management of bank accounts.
- Supporting the AR Team in Cash applications and other bank-related matters.
- Designing and maintaining accounting and internal control systems and procedures.
- Participating in Budget and Forecasting sessions and reporting variances on key accounts.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller with:
- CPA designation
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with the latest position being mid-level management.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing a team of growing accounting professionals.
- Experience in cross-functional business partnering.
- Experience with SAP/S4 HANA and Business Planning and Consolidation is considered an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, strong knowledge of Hedge Accounting, Deferred Taxes, and Sales and Use Taxes.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and job costing is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- English, French is an asset (not mandatory).
$125,000 - $150,000/year
