School Bus Trainer Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced School Bus Trainer to join our team at Durham School Services. As a School Bus Trainer, you will be responsible for training and evaluating school bus drivers to ensure they meet our high standards of safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough driver evaluations to assess their skills and knowledge.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to teach drivers about our health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Train drivers to obtain a Class 2 license with an S endorsement.
  • Report to work on time and operate routes in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily to ensure vehicles are in good working condition.
  • Practice defensive driving at all times and proactively avoid accidents.
  • Evacuate buses in emergency situations and assist passengers to evacuate.
  • Manage student behavior and report any discipline issues to the school and company.
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid provincial Class 2-S Driver's License or higher.
  • Must have a 2-S Endorsement Instructor's License.
  • Must have a clean Drivers Abstract and clear Criminal Background check.
  • Previous training experience is an asset, but not required.
