**Job Summary**

The City of St. Catharines is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at the St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the facility and grounds, ensuring a clean and safe environment for visitors and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the facility and grounds, including cleaning, trash collection, and snow removal.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as checking and cleaning washrooms, replenishing supplies, and setting out garbage for collection.
  • Assist visitors in a helpful and friendly manner, providing information and directions as needed.
  • Check and report any problems, vandalism, or misuse of the facilities.
  • Open and close the facility, secure alarm systems, and perform other similar duties as required.
  • Participate in the set-up and tear-down of on-site functions and events.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to understand simple oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with good interpersonal skills.
  • Good physical condition, with ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Shift and weekend work required.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and WHMIS certification.
