About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Semantics Expert to join our team at BASF Canada Inc. as part of our Data & AI Powerhouse. As a key member of our Product Data Semantics team, you will play a crucial role in strengthening and expanding our semantics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Ontologies

You will be responsible for designing, creating, and maintaining ontologies that serve as the foundation for future knowledge graphs. This will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our ontologies are aligned with business objectives.

Design and Implement Knowledge Graphs

You will design, create, and maintain knowledge graphs for various business objectives, leveraging your expertise in semantic modeling and data governance.

Provide Technical Guidance

You will provide technical guidance and support to cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and domain experts, on ontology and knowledge graph exploitation.

Evaluate and Enhance Data Governance Policies

You will evaluate and enhance the team's data governance policies, standards, and best practices for effective ontology and knowledge graph management.

Requirements
  • Education

A Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

Proven experience in ontology development, including designing and implementing ontologies, taxonomies, and semantic models.

Skills

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Collaboration

Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, domain experts, and data scientists in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
