Job Title: Afternoon Local Dispatcher
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Afternoon Local Dispatcher to join our team at The Erb Group of Companies. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for dispatching drivers, coordinating logistics, and ensuring the timely delivery of temperature-controlled perishable goods across Canada and the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch drivers on delivery with knowledge of hours of service and company driver policy.
- Prepare list of trailers requested by city-local dispatch for the following day.
- Receive yard check to ensure accurate temperatures, trailer numbers, and settings match up with bills.
- Communicate with shop as to equipment needs and any required repairs.
- Consult with dock personnel as to equipment and load requirements.
- Set priorities with incoming and outgoing loads.
- Coordinate with Line haul arrival and departure of drivers.
- Assist in answering incoming calls after reception hours.
- Answer customer requests as they pertain to Dispatch and Delivery procedures.
- Receive incoming freight when required.
- Understand the stickering, data entry, load and go, and routing functions.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience with Erb Transport or equivalent.
- Dispatch experience is highly preferred.
- Efficient with Erb computer system (AS400, Microsoft Office, TruckMate).
- Excellent people skills as dealing with customers, drivers, and dispatch team is essential.
- Knowledge of paper flow, traffic functions, and customer base is required.
- Knowledge of Greater Toronto Area (GTA) geography.
