About This Opportunity

Black & McDonald's Mechanical & Electrical ICI team is seeking a skilled Electrical Estimator to join our growing team. If you are a collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.

The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for all aspects of estimating, ensuring strict adherence to B&M policies and procedures. The Estimator will liaise with customers to ensure continuity of work opportunities and with vendors to maintain competitiveness within the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications
  • Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards
  • Participate in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
  • Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors

Education Requirements

  • Graduate of electrical estimating or construction program
  • Several years' experience working in the electrical construction sector

  • 10+ years' experience in estimating electrical ICI construction work, preferably on P3 projects

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

  • Estimate closure
  • Project electrical design interpretation
  • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
  • Organization and time management
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with deadlines

Advanced user of:

  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Accubid
