Job Summary:

Harbour Healthcare is seeking a skilled Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep of our 80-bed care home in Halifax. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance of the building, its services, and grounds are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all legal documentation is completed on time and report any known defects to appliances, furniture, or equipment to the Home Manager.
  • Carry out general maintenance tasks, including patching up or touching up decoration, testing fire alarm systems, and maintaining ventilation units and lights.
  • Liaise with the Home Manager and other staff members to coordinate maintenance work and ensure effective communication.
  • Participate in staff and client meetings as required and attend mandatory training days/courses to maintain professional knowledge and competence.
  • Understand and implement the care home's health and safety policy, emergency procedures, and promote safe working practices.
  • Inform the Home Manager of any visit to the care home by maintenance staff and record the visit in the appropriate file.
  • Maintain and secure any vehicle in use at the care home and undertake driving duties if required.

Requirements:

  • General maintenance knowledge and experience, including minor electrical, plumbing, and joinery work.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with staff and clients.
  • Confident team player with a clean driving license and use of a car or similar vehicle.
  • Willingness to receive training on current health and safety regulations and maintain professional knowledge and competence.
  • Satisfactory police check and check against the POVA List (where applicable).
