Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a skilled Human Resources Consultant to join our team in Tiverton, ON. As a key member of our HR team, you will provide strategic HR solutions that align with our organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to management on the administration of the sick leave plan, including medical leave of absence, referral for LTD consideration, vocational rehabilitation, and Worker's Compensation.
  • Offer advice, guidance, and services in areas of organizational structure, job evaluation, compensation, benefits, and payroll administration, including related policies and procedures.
  • Access HR databases to report trends and emerging issues, gather statistics, complete studies, analyze, and prepare reports on various HR issues or procedures.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and best practices to influence human resources strategies and support HR's Service Delivery Model.
  • Develop or provide management with advice and services, staff planning, placement, promotion, performance management issues.
  • Keep up to date on training activities and available programs.
  • Initiate, develop, and deliver training courses.
  • Develop for approval and carry out work plans for programs/processes in specialized areas.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • University Degree or Post Secondary Education in Human Resources.
  • CHRL designation or Masters Degree in Human Resources is considered an asset.
  • Experience as a HR Consultant, HR Advisor, or HR Generalist. Sound knowledge of human resources principles, and processes, and ability to provide advice and operational support on a wide range of HR matters.
  • Labour/employee relations experience in a unionized environment will be an asset.
  • Results orientated and the ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while effectively managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address and overcome current and future challenges.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong facilitation, negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills.
  • Commitment to high standards of procedural safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Valid Ontario Drivers License in good standing is necessary for this position.
  • Willingness to travel locally between Durham region locations, as required.
