About the Role:

Cyient is seeking a skilled Field Technician to join our Telecommunications Business Unit. As a Field Technician, you will be responsible for conducting Outside Plant (OSP) field data collection in Ontario and surrounding provinces. Your primary duties will include:

  • Visiting multiple job locations daily to collect and analyze field data related to Telecom poles, Aerial/Underground structures, and Street/Right of Way measurements.
  • Recording and analyzing existing field conditions to support future/current fiber designs and equipment locations.
  • Performing field surveys (ISP/OSP) and taking detailed notes/photos/sketches of on-site findings.
  • Assisting Design Specialists by providing detailed feedback on potential cable path and/or site survey.
  • Conducting utility and right of way research, including reading and interpreting utility plans, DOT records, property/easement data, civil design blueprints, survey documents, or sketches.
  • Proofing or comparing information contained on GIS maps/drawings with information from different sources, such as Google Earth.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1+ years of experience with utility construction in an outside plant environment.
  • Experience with telecom/utility poles, and MDU/HFC/BAU field surveys.
  • 1+ years of experience with existing and proposed telecom equipment locations.
  • 1+ years of experience reading and analyzing utility work prints.
  • 1+ years of experience with aerial, underground, or buried telecom infrastructure.
  • 1+ years of experience with IKE GPS or related pole survey equipment handling.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Skills & Experience:

  • Superior communication skills while interacting with Utility, governmental agencies, consultants, and engineering firms.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and internet knowledge.
  • Strong professional ethics and ability to work in a team environment.
