Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Big Data Application Developer to join our team at the Royal Bank of Canada. As a key member of our AML IT team, you will be responsible for delivering technical and business needs, working closely with various partners across IT and business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop cross-functional, multi-platform application systems using Big Data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark.
  • Apply extensive knowledge and skills to perform complex assignments, ensuring high code quality through automated unit and functional testing.
  • Develop and support highly scalable, high-performance components within an Agile development team.
  • Communicate effectively with peers and distil technical details into human terms.
  • Proactively seek out knowledge about new technologies and how they can be used to solve current and foreseeable challenges.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience with Big Data (Hadoop / Spark) and ETL development competencies.
  • Professional Software development experience with HDFS, PL/SQL and other Database related programming languages.
  • Experience developing secure server side services leveraging the following APIs: Spring, Spring Batch/Boot, RESTful Webservices, Apache Data Utilities (JSON, Avro, CSV/PSV, Parquet), NoSQL/SQL databases and Struts 2.0.
  • Experience and knowledge with Java, J2EE, Spring / REST / Microservices, Linux and NoSQL/SQL databases.
  • Experience with building Cloud-ready microservices and containerizing applications.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • Experience with DevOps, CD/CI tools- Jenkins, GitHub, Automated Testing tools, or similar tools.
