Mainframe System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe System Engineer to join our team at CG Consulting Group. The ideal candidate will have experience with z/OS architecture mainframe systems in a sysplex environment and a strong background in mainframe support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for daily support of mainframe components and software, installing and testing third-party mainframe software, and responding to client requests for access management authorization. Additionally, they will be expected to work with vendors to troubleshoot problems and provide diagnostics for root cause analysis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing daily support for mainframe components and software to ensure the overall health of the mainframe environment.
- Resolving moderate problems to final resolution with root cause analysis.
- Collaborating with vendors to troubleshoot issues and provide diagnostics.
- Proactively monitoring mainframe system metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
- Installing and testing third-party mainframe software.
- Responding to client requests for access management authorization.
Requirements for the role include:
- Experience with z/OS architecture mainframe systems in a sysplex environment.
- 2-7 years of experience in a mainframe support role.
- Programming language skills in REXX or SAS, with a bonus for experience with Assembler or COBOL.
- Moderate knowledge of JCL, TSO/ISPF, and SDSF concepts and functionality.
- Experience with BMC Control-D output management infrastructure and components is a plus.
This is a hybrid role with 3 days of in-office work per week and a competitive salary and benefits package. The client location is downtown Montreal, QC, and the role is available as a permanent position or a 6-month contract with the possibility of renewal.
