Mainframe CICS Engineer Role

The Enterprise Technology & Services (ETS) department at Procom is seeking a skilled Mainframe CICS Engineer to provide technical expertise in the design, development, and maintenance of CICS systems. This position offers the opportunity to work with the latest hardware and software technologies in a hybrid work environment.

Mainframe CICS Engineer Responsibilities

The Mainframe CICS Engineer will be responsible for all phases of CICS engineering, system and software maintenance, and related operation functions. The candidate must be comfortable working in a 24x7 large-scale Sysplex and CICSPlex environment and must effectively interface with application developers and operations teams. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills are essential. The role requires on-call support and maintenance outside of normal working hours to support the CICS environment and resolve issues.

Mainframe CICS Engineer Skills

- Knowledge of all CICS parameters that control performance in a CICSPlex environment.
- Knowledge of SMP/E, software upgrade, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of CICS SMF record structure and the CICS Performance Analyzer tool.
- Experience with CICSPlex SM implementation & customization, dynamic transaction routing.
- Ability to perform problem determination, dump analysis, and performance tuning.
- Experienced with CICS monitoring tools such as Sysview for CICS.
- Knowledge of Cobol to support application developers.
- Experience with Mainframe Websphere MQ.

Mainframe CICS Engineer Desired Skills

- Assembler and COBOL coding and knowledge of CICS Exits.
- Web application support in a CICS TS V5 environment.
- Understanding of zOS facilities such as APF, Linklist, VSAM, LPA, Coupling Facility.
- Good Project Management skills.
- Knowledge of the CICS Interdependency Analyzer tool.
- Working knowledge of zOS & CICS Explorer.
- Knowledge of Natural language & Adabas.
- Prior Application programming experience is a plus.
