About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As an Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the Health Services Manager in all aspects of program service delivery, ensuring compliance with Quality Standards, and all relevant legislation, policies, and standards related to healthcare, Accreditation, and professional nursing services.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in nursing, preferably with experience in a supervisory, leadership, and/or management role. You should have a Bachelor's degree in nursing and be currently registered with the Nova Scotia College of Registered Nurses (NSCN). Additionally, you should have at least five years of recent clinical nursing experience, with at least one year in a rural setting preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Health Services Manager in all aspects of program service delivery
  • Ensure compliance with Quality Standards, and all relevant legislation, policies, and standards related to healthcare, Accreditation, and professional nursing services
  • Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Monitor and evaluate program performance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Registered Nurses (NSCN)
  • Five years recent clinical nursing experience required, at least one year in a rural setting preferred
  • Two years of experience in a supervisory, leadership, and/or management role preferred
  • Completion of or willingness to complete a leadership development program
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Home First philosophy while fostering client independence
  • Strong human resource management, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and a high degree of initiative and self-motivation
  • Ability to identify and report budgetary pressures to the manager and assist the manager in identifying mitigation strategies to keep spending within budget
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
