Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Personal Support Worker to join our team at VON Canada. As a Personal Support Worker, you will provide personalized care and support to clients in their homes, promoting their independence and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess client needs and develop personalized care plans to ensure optimal support and care.
  • Provide personal care services, including bathing, dressing, and grooming, as well as light housekeeping and meal preparation.
  • Support clients with daily activities, such as walking, climbing stairs, and managing medications.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to ensure compliance with VON Canada's policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; secondary school education preferred.
  • CCA Certification in Nova Scotia or equivalent required.
  • Must have a current Standard First Aid Certificate or CPR level C Certificate, if applicable to the work being performed.
  • Experience working with elderly or ill individuals or children preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Working Conditions

This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
