Key Responsibilities- Supervise and Schedule Staff: Hire, train, and supervise a team of grounds maintenance staff to ensure efficient and effective completion of tasks.
- Plan and Direct Grounds Maintenance: Develop and implement plans for grounds maintenance, including mowing, pruning, and other tasks as needed.
- Plan and Estimate Labour and Materials: Estimate the resources required for each project and plan accordingly to ensure timely completion and budget adherence.
- Plan, Manage, and Supervise Landscape Construction Work: Oversee the construction of new landscapes, including planning, managing, and supervising the work of contractors and staff.
- Maintain Work Records and Logs: Keep accurate records of work completed, including hours worked, materials used, and any issues that arise.
- Repair and Maintain Equipment: Regularly inspect and maintain equipment to ensure it is in good working order and to prevent breakdowns.
- Requisition or Order Materials, Equipment, and Supplies: Procure the necessary materials, equipment, and supplies to complete tasks and projects.
- Resolve Work Problems, Provide Technical Advice, and Recommend Measures to Improve Productivity and Product Quality: Troubleshoot issues that arise during work and provide guidance to staff to improve productivity and quality.
- Establish Work Schedules and Procedures: Develop and implement schedules and procedures to ensure efficient and effective completion of tasks.
- Education: College/CEGEP diploma or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Language: English.
- Work Environment: Outdoors, with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Work Setting: Residential, with occasional relocation required.
- Equipment and Machinery Experience: Proficiency in operating a variety of equipment, including backhoes, chain saws, forklifts, pick-up trucks, small engine equipment, sod cutters, tractors, and tractor mowers.
- Area of Work Experience: Snow removal and landscaping.
- Area of Specialization: Lawn care, tree service, and grounds maintenance.
- Security and Safety: Bondable.
- Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver's license, own vehicle, and ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle.
- Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle heavy loads, and perform physically demanding tasks.
