Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of assigned healthcare and professional customers, including their business, financial position, and service terms.
  • Provide specialized expertise and business/finance advice to healthcare and professional customers, helping them succeed in their businesses.
  • Build and maintain business relationships with key customers, internal and external referral sources, and COIs.
  • Respond to customer requests, guiding them in service use and confirming their satisfaction.
  • Recover customer relationships when necessary and plan relationship-building activities to create sales opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date on market trends and practices in the healthcare and professional sectors, providing value to customers.
  • Identify prospects through referrals, partnerships, and community contacts, and develop a network of business contacts.
  • Discover business and personal banking needs and preferences for customers.
  • Collaborate with Branch Managers and Wealth Management Consultants to provide a Total Solutions approach to customers.
  • Assist Scotiabank partners in structuring marketing activities to close deals with existing customers.
  • Respond to business banking solutions requests, processing and conducting due diligence as needed.
  • Negotiate compensation for financial products and services, following Bank policies.
  • Provide thorough communication to customers throughout service setup, ensuring a smooth experience.
  • Manage an assigned credit portfolio at an acceptable risk level, working closely with SPP Solutions Managers and ACE.
  • Complete credit reviews in a timely manner and authorize, renew, or decline customer requests within Bank policies.
  • Ensure all documentation is properly maintained and accounts adhere to authorization conditions.
  • Identify and resolve deviations from authorization conditions and deteriorating trends affecting the loan portfolio.
  • Develop an understanding of branch financial and non-financial goals and contribute to achieving them.
  • Negotiate aggressive yet achievable financial and non-financial goals.
  • Participate in team meetings, skill-building sessions, and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Adhere to Bank and Branch security procedures and report any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activity.
  • Comply with regulatory activities and guidelines, including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing, and Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Understand the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture and consider it in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations, ensuring the adequacy and effectiveness of business controls.
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive work environment.

Do you have the skills to succeed in this role?

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, business law, and economics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven expertise in the healthcare and professional segment within the designated marketplace.
  • Expert knowledge of Small Business products and services, selling approach, and related internal software and technology platforms.
  • Thorough knowledge of risk management policies and processes, and legal and security documentation for small business products.
  • Experience with interviewing, solicitation, marketing, and business development techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of branch procedures, processes, and workflows, small business legal structures, life cycles, and owner characteristics, and business financial statements within the healthcare and professional segments.
  • Working knowledge of retail products and services, competitor offerings, and alternate sources of financing.
  • Knowledge of economic conditions and political events affecting businesses, especially in the professional and healthcare segment.
  • The ability to build and maintain key relationships, influence and persuade others, tactical planning, implementation, and organization skills.
  • A high degree of flexibility to adapt to a wide variety of tasks and functions, including being mobile to the district to meet with customers and related COIs.
