Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer (Open Pit) - Vancouver, BC, Canada

SRK Consulting is a leading international consulting practice, providing globally integrated consulting services to the mining and metals sector.

We are seeking a Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer (Open Pit) to join our Vancouver Mining team.

**Job Summary:**

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer with a strong background in open pit operations to lead our projects and teams. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of rock mechanics principles and experience in applying them to surface and underground projects.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Lead full project scopes from conceptual studies through to detailed design and construction stage.
  • Provide expertise and apply rock mechanics principles to predominantly surface and some underground projects and mines.
  • Liaise with the mining team and other technical specialists as required.
  • Prepare proposals and participate in marketing efforts.
  • Develop and lead project teams.

**Requirements:**

  • A degree in geological, mining or geotechnical engineering.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience; open pit operating mine experience will be favored.
  • Substantial practical experience in geotechnical logging, including the development and management of field programs.
  • Proficiency in geological modelling software.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D geotechnical numerical modelling.
  • Hydrogeology experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and project management experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain client relationships.
  • Professional registration or eligibility to obtain it in short order.
