Distribution Technician

Position Overview
FortisBC is seeking a skilled Distribution Technician to join our team. As a Distribution Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of gas system assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete internal training to safely install gas systems and operate and maintain FortisBC distribution assets.
- Perform field coaching, skills building, and evaluation.
- Respond to emergencies while ensuring the safety of the public and cooperating with first responders.
- Foster good relations between the company and customers, and with other team members.
Requirements:
- A minimum of two years' relevant pipe fitting and/or underground utility field experience.
- High school graduation, along with a Class 5 driver's license and a clean driving abstract.
- A willingness and ability to learn and apply knowledge of Gas Installation Systems.
- Customer relations skills and the ability to deal effectively with customers.
- Emergency response skills and the ability to remain calm and make effective decisions during emergency situations.
Additional Information:
- This role has standby/on-call requirements based on operational needs.
- The successful candidate must adhere to the residency requirements of this position.
- This role has overtime requirements based on operational needs.
- This role has travel/out of town requirements based on operational needs.
