Job Title: Education Assistant - Special Education

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Education Assistant - Special Education. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with special needs.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide support to students with physical disabilities, chronic health impairments, intellectual disabilities, and/or social, emotional, and behavioural problems. Under the direction of the Principal(s) and general supervision of the Classroom Teacher(s), the Education Assistant will assist students in achieving their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special needs
  • Assist students with physical disabilities, chronic health impairments, intellectual disabilities, and/or social, emotional, and behavioural problems
  • Support the achievement of stated program goals and objectives
  • Supervise a designated area either inside or outside the school, before, during, and/or after school as defined by the terms of the assignment

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 plus a special program and over six (6) months up to and including one (1) year's related experience
  • A special program would be the Capilano University Education Assistant Program
  • Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License
  • Knowledge of basic First Aid
  • Basic knowledge of related learning tools (ie. computers, etc.)
