Job Description

Finning is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sustainability Director to lead our global sustainability strategy. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive sustainability plan that addresses compliance and governance, sustainability and carbon reduction objectives, and supports the business in responding to customer sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement sustainability policies, plans, and procedures.
  • Develop and implement sustainability communication plans.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on sustainability trends, regulations, and legislation applicable in the jurisdictions where we do business.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the development and execution of sustainability initiatives.
  • Partner with legal, internal audit, and operational teams to ensure sustainability practices are integrated into corporate policies, procedures, and activities.
  • Provide oversight to sustainability audits and assessments across global operations.
  • Develop and maintain a sustainability reporting framework that meets global standards and stakeholder expectations.
  • Oversee and collaborate on sustainability training and awareness programs.
  • Act as a key spokesperson and representative of the company on sustainability issues.
  • Engage with commercial leaders to gather insights and feedback on customer sustainability expectations.
  • Work closely with the customer performance team to ensure our products and services meet customer sustainability needs.
  • Drive innovation in sustainability that serves as a differentiator in the marketplace.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to a small team of sustainability professionals.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental science, business, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of ESG regulatory requirements and trends nationally and globally.
  • Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI, CDP, and SASB.
  • 10+ years of experience in a relevant industry/business experience in a sustainability role or related field.
  • Strong project management skills, with proven ability to plan, organize, and lead.
  • Persuasive communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to present to senior leadership internally and externally.
