Job Title: Junior to Intermediate Operations Geologist

Baytex Energy Corp. is a leading energy company with a strong presence in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and the Eagle Ford in the United States. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior to Intermediate Operations Geologist to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with geoscience and engineering teams to execute drilling programs and optimize well placement and efficiencies.
  • Prepare pre-spud geology packages, including directional plans, progs, and offset data, to ensure successful well operations.
  • Interpret geological and drilling information to make informed decisions and drive business growth.
  • Compile and present results and learnings to management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of well log interpretation, geosteering, and rig operations to drive business success.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field.
  • 2 to 8 years of geology experience, with a strong background in wellsites and operations.
  • Experience in heavy oil horizontal, multilateral, and strat drilling is highly preferred.
  • Geosteering experience, either remote or onsite, is a significant advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of rig operations, directional drilling, and striplogs/Canstrat is essential.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills are required to work effectively with field and office staff.
  • Ability to stay composed, troubleshoot, and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Current status or required qualification for membership in APEGA is a must.
