Job Title: Junior to Intermediate Operations Geologist

Baytex Energy Corp. is a leading energy company with a strong presence in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and the Eagle Ford in the United States. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Junior to Intermediate Operations Geologist to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with geoscience and engineering teams to execute drilling programs and optimize well placement and efficiencies.
  • Prepare pre-spud geology packages, including directional plans, progs, and offset data, to ensure accurate and effective drilling operations.
  • Interpret geological and drilling information to identify areas for improvement and optimize drilling operations.
  • Compile and present results and learnings to management to inform future drilling programs.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of rig operations, directional drilling, and well log interpretation to make informed decisions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related field.
  • 2 to 8 years of geology experience, with a strong background in wellsite geology or operations.
  • Experience with geosteering, remote or onsite, is highly valued.
  • Strong knowledge of rig operations, directional drilling, and well log interpretation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with field and office staff.
  • Ability to stay composed and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
