Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Software Designer to join our team at ATS Automation. As a key member of our control systems design department, you will play a critical role in designing and developing world-class automation solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and develop software programs for customer and project requirements, utilizing standard ATS programming methods.
  2. Debug and commission control systems at our facility, during system integration, and at customer sites during installation.
  3. Travel to customer and supplier sites to perform installation, commissioning, and training duties.
  4. Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components, including robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers.
  5. Collaborate with other team members to improve methods of integrating controls technology, focusing on enhanced safety, functionality, and reduced cost.
  6. Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide a complete, functional automation system.
  7. Provide thorough testing of machine functionality to verify software program completeness.
  8. Document each project accurately.
  9. Advise customers on solving technical problems.
  10. Provide customer training specific to their project, including machine operation, programming principles, and program structure.

This position requires the ability to travel internationally, approximately 10-15% of the year.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with:

  1. A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems, or computer engineering.
  2. Strong programming, mechanical, and electrical problem-solving skills.
  3. Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  4. Understanding of robotics, control systems, and machine operation, with hands-on experience desirable.
  5. A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
