About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Risk Management Specialist to join our team as a Commercial Underwriter. As a key member of our Underwriting department, you will be responsible for assessing and managing technical risks for our clients, working closely with Risk Services and Claims teams to ensure seamless decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and analyze new business opportunities to identify potential risks and develop tailored underwriting strategies
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement renewal rates and exposure guidelines, ensuring retention and rate adequacy
  • Analyze trends and developments to identify areas of concern regarding loss ratio, recommending adjustments to mitigate risk
  • BUILD STRONG RELATIONSHIPS with brokers, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring timely communication
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in underwriting and risk management

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial underwriting, preferably with a focus on technical risks
  • Completed or pursuing CIP designation, demonstrating a commitment to professional development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Experience with package/multi-line underwriting and cross-border/layered business an asset
  • Team-first mentality, with a focus on collaboration and mutual support
