About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead the development of our fleet and garage risks portfolio. As a Commercial Insurance Risk Manager, you will be responsible for analyzing and underwriting new and renewal business for highly complex assignments. Your primary focus will be on identifying growth opportunities, negotiating terms and conditions, and closing deals with key broker partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities with key broker partners
- Complete detailed opportunity assessments to identify growth opportunities
- Negotiate terms and conditions to secure deals
- Cross-sell other lines of business to increase product density
- Participate in sales team meetings to discuss assigned brokers and territories
- Engage in target account processes to manage qualified lists of opportunities
- Update required systems with details of broker/client visits and account status
- Serve as a key contact for assigned target accounts
- Develop strong broker and client networks
- Calculate target prices accurately using underwriting tools
- Analyze exposure and risk
- Assist in training and developing staff
- Provide expertise on coverage issues with claims programs and guidelines
- Contribute to the development of underwriting manuals, programs, and guidelines
- Approve and place facultative purchases
- Promote organization products and services to increase penetration within agency plants
- Ensure successful project completion by maintaining continuing dialogue with business unit sponsors
- Diagnose and develop recommendations to solve unique business unit and customer problems
- Lead complex technical or long-term projects to implement new or changed systems, programs, or products
- Investigate, recommend, and implement leading-edge technical solutions that meet customer needs
Requirements:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Insurance Risk Manager with a proven track record in underwriting and risk management. To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market-facing roles
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience working on tight deadlines for quotes on new and renewal business
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required
Preferred Qualifications:
While not essential, having the following qualifications would be beneficial:
- 5+ years of experience underwriting commercial automobile risks (IRCA, Garage, Fleet) with a focus on medium to large accounts
- Experience working with medium to large-sized, bulk-rated fleet risks
- Loss-rated accounts
- Working with actuarial-type risks
- Loss-sensitive, high-retention policies
- Heavy commercial US exposure and/or US-plated
- Filings and regulatory challenges
- Updated fleet technology knowledge
