Job Title: Concurrent Disorder Counsellor

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Concurrent Disorder Counsellor to join our team at the Alouette Correctional Centre for Women. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will provide trauma-informed individualized therapeutic counselling services to clients with complex mental health and substance use challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive assessment, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, motivational interviewing, and social skills training to clients.
  • Facilitate psycho-education and process-oriented group therapy to support clients in achieving their treatment goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the inter-professional team.
  • Perform enrollment to programs and liaise with referring/after-care agencies to facilitate treatment planning and discharge care.
  • Act as an advocate for clients during inter-professional team meetings to evaluate and change the treatment plan.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in an allied health discipline (counselling and/or social work) from an approved and accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Three (3) years' of recent related clinical experience, including at least one (1) year's experience in a concurrent disorder, substance use or mental health program providing therapeutic individual and group counselling.
