Staff Accountant, Co-op

Baker Tilly KDN is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Staff Accountant, Co-op. As a key member of our team, you will assist senior staff and partners on various assignments, honing your skills and gaining valuable experience in the field of accounting.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform audit duties at a junior level, examining and analyzing financial records and documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.
- Plan, set-up, and administer accounting systems, preparing financial information for clients and stakeholders.
- Examine accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports, providing valuable insights to clients and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain cost savings, reporting, and internal control procedures, ensuring the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness.
- Examine financial accounts and records, preparing income tax returns from accounting records, and providing financial, business, and tax advice to clients.
- Participate in special projects as assigned by partner or senior staff, demonstrating your ability to adapt and contribute to the team's success.
- Actively pursue self-development opportunities, aligning with the competency model and needs of the firm, and building strong working relationships with staff, partners, and clients.
- Contribute to a positive team environment, supporting new initiatives and working collaboratively to complete project components and assignment tasks.
- Currently enrolled in a Canadian academic program and returning to studies.
- Business or accounting degree, with a focus on technical knowledge and skills.
- Knowledge of Caseware/Caseview and TaxPrep is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a positive can-do approach.
- Attention to detail, creative problem-solving ability, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in delivering quality client service and a general knowledge of the firm's products and services.
- A general understanding of industry and market trends, including opportunities, global and local business initiatives, and stakeholder/competitor interests.
